What a digital stamp is

An Post sells digital stamps through its app for eligible domestic mail. The purchase produces a code that you write in the position shown by An Post; it is not a printable parcel label or a reusable account credit.

Check the item first

Digital-stamp eligibility depends on the service and mail format offered in the app. Measure the packed envelope and use Click & Post or a post office if the item is too large, needs customs data, or needs a different service.

Write the code clearly

Copy every character exactly, use a dark pen, and leave the code unobstructed. A mistyped, faint, covered, or reused code can prevent automated processing, so compare it with the app before posting.

When another option is better

Choose a physical stamp for simple counter purchases, Click & Post for labels and customs declarations, or tracked and registered services when you need shipment events or formal proof. A digital stamp does not itself turn ordinary letter post into tracked post.

Can I reuse an An Post digital stamp code?

No. Treat the code as single-use postage for the item it was purchased for.

Do not assume it does. Tracking depends on the postal service selected, not simply on paying digitally.

Can I use a digital stamp on a parcel?

Use only the mail formats offered by An Post in the app. For a parcel, calculate the packed size and use an eligible parcel service.
